What you’ll be doing
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to lay the technical foundation for everything we’ll achieve at Rotate. Data is at the heart of our business, and your role will be pivotal in unlocking the value of market and client data.
As a key member of our team, you will:
Own the design and evolution of our cloud-based data architecture (AWS, EKS, Databricks) to ensure scalability, security, and performance.
Lead the development and maintenance of robust data pipelines, automation workflows, and CI/CD processes.
Lead technical discussions, solving complex challenges and communicating solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Manage, process, and organize (Unity Catalog) structured and unstructured data, ensuring quality and reliability.
Work with modern data technologies including cloud computing, queues, streaming, and graph databases.
Optimize and orchestrate data workflows to ensure seamless integration and performance.
Collaborate on different levels in organizations to build impactful tools and solutions.
Mentor, coach, and grow a team of data engineers, fostering a high-performing, innovative, and collaborative engineering culture.
Job requirements
What you’ll need
We’re looking for a confident technical leader who thrives on ownership and impact. You should be comfortable in a fast-moving, informal but professional environment where initiative, quality, and team spirit matter. Further you need;
6+ years of relevant working experience as a data engineer, with at least 2 years in a technical lead role
Experience with communicating technical stories towards diverse non-technical audience
Advanced proficiency in Python and familiarity with other languages as needed.
You are interested in the impact of data, not just the technical transformation
Deep understanding of data lake and data warehouse architectures, and hands-on experience implementing them.
Expertise with CI/CD tooling and modern software development practices.
A quantitative/technical degree or a similar educational background.
You are fluent in English. Other languages are a great plus.
You live in Malaysia and you have a valid working permit

Where is the position located?
This role is based in our newly established office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Our Malaysia office specializes in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and Data Analysis. You will collaborate with talented tech colleagues.
